A rosemary branch with several stems bearing small clusters of purple-blue flowers is drawn in precise botanical illustration style against a warm cream ground. The needle-like leaves are dark grey-green, each one individually drawn, the arrangement along each stem botanically accurate. The small tubular flowers cluster in groups of five or six at the stem tips, their color a soft dusty blue-violet. A fine pencil sketch underlies the watercolor wash, the sketching just visible at the leaf tips. The scientific name Rosmarinus officinalis is lettered in fine copperplate script below the branch.
